INTERSECT

Intersecting Flows of Islamophobia

Led by MF Norwegian School of Theology, Religion and Society & Center for Research on Extremism, University of Oslo

INTERSECT («Intersecting Flows of Islamophobia») was a large, international Norwegian-led research project on Islamophobia, i.e. one-sided negative and essentializing representations of Islam and Muslims, often also referred to as anti-Muslim hostility. The project, which was funded by the Research Council of Norway, lasted from 2019 to 2024 and delivered ground-breaking research and dissemination in scientific journals, in the media and in other formats. INTERSECT was innovative in seeing Islamophobia as a fundamentally global phenomenon. On this page you can find out more about the project, the project participants, our academic publications, as well as op-eds and research dissemination.
